MINOT — Earl A. Belanger Jr., 68, of Minot died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 2, in an automobile accident in the town of Minot.
He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of ’66, in which he was known as “The Duke.” Throughout his careers, he was a house constructor for Belanger Builders, a mechanic and an owner of several gas stations, and then he was a commercial truck driver for many years. During his retirement, he was a groundskeeper for Fairlawn Golf Club.
Earl was known to many as JR or Junior. He loved classic cars, building small wooden models and being around his family. Like his father before him, he was the leader of the pack. He loved camping trips off the grid with his whole family. He was an avid freshwater and deep sea fisherman with his son, Steven, and longtime friend and extended family member, Hazen Hutchinson. And he really enjoyed hunting with his son and daughter, Kandi, including Hazen and his brother, Richard. We will sadly miss his funny jokes, “back in the day” stories, and nicknames he would give to people.
He is survived by his children, Kandi Belanger Baldinelli of Auburn, Steven Belanger with Jessica Nehiley of Minot, and Kevin and Jessica St. Pierre of Auburn; his grandchildren, Karissa and Kathleen Baldinelli, Maegan, Kimberly and Ashley Belanger, Miranda and Andrew Dostie; his great-grandchildren, Lyon and Kingston; his younger brother, Richard and Jane Belanger of Lewiston; his girlfriend, Claire Dobbs of Minot and her children, Stephanie and Ryan Marcotte with their children, Derek, Nate and Colby; Jason and Amanda Breton; and Angela and Josh Marcotte with their children, Miranda and Allie; also a nephew, Robert Belanger with Christine; and many, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Paul St. Pierre (2010); his parents, Earl C. Belanger Sr. (1982) and Cecile Pomerleau Bonney (2011); and a niece, Rochelle Belanger (1996).
He was loved by many and we will all miss him greatly
