WINTHROP – Former weatherman Kevin Mannix will lead a discussion about the challenges of living with depression at the Bailey Public Library on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. The discussion, sponsored by the Winthrop Public Library Foundation, is free and open to the public.

After delivering the weather for over 25 years, Mannix began work on a nonweather segment called “Kevin’s Story,” a series that addresses the shame often associated with mental health issues. The series drew over 4,000 responses from viewers.

Both Mannix and his wife, Linda Rota, have struggled with depression and the associated stigma of mental health issues. The couple coauthored the book “Weathering Shame,” which is the story of individual experiences growing up surrounded by alcoholism, depression and suicide.

A book signing will follow the talk and books will be available for purchase at the event. The Bailey Public Library is located at 39 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. FMI:  visit www.baileylibrary.org or call 207-377-8673.
