FARMINGTON — The public helped identify a Livermore Falls woman who police said took a pair of boots valued at $209 from a downtown store.

Tasha Sampson, 31, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft, Farmington Detective Marc Bowering said. The charge was elevated to a felony because of her criminal record.

Farmington Police Department received numerous calls after posting a store security photo Monday asking the public to help identify her, he said.

“We appreciate their help,” he said.

Once identified, Sampson was contacted and agreed to appear at the police department on Tuesday, he said. After talking with her, Bowering arrested her and took her to Franklin County Detention Center where she remained Wednesday, according to a jail officer.
