NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer Taking Charge of Your Health by Planning Ahead with Advance Directives, a series of sessions about end-of-life care and planning.
Classes will meet from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays, Feb. 17, Mar. 10, April 14 and May 19 at the William L. Medd, MD, Health Center in the James E. Eshleman, DO Conference Room, 8 Pikes Hill, Norway.
Advance directives are legal documents that allow a person to spell out decisions about end-of-life care ahead of time, in the event of terminal illness or permanent unconsciousness. Directives give individuals a way to convey their wishes to family, friends and health care professionals in order to avoid confusion.
Stephens Memorial Hospital’s licensed clinical social worker Robin Green will lead the discussion on the importance of advanced directives, along with other ways to make health care wishes known ahead of time.
No registration is required and walk-ins are welcome. There is no cost for this program.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
