YARMOUTH — Thelma C. Mills, 77, of Norway passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Brentwood Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Thelma was born in Norway on Jan. 8, 1940, the daughter of George and Gwendolyn (Bicknell) Cordwell. She attended Norway schools, graduating from Norway High School.

On June 28, 1958, she married Forest “Donald” Mills.

Don and Thelma made their home in Connecticut until 1969 before moving back to Maine. Thelma then went to work at Norway National Bank and worked there until 1973. It was then she and Don purchased Kings Store in Oxford which they operated for 11 years as Mills Store. They then opened the Konehead Ice Cream Shop in Oxford, which they operated for 15 years. During this time, Thelma had also worked at Hannaford in Oxford.

She enjoyed knitting.

She leaves behind a son, Dan Mills of Norway; a daughter, Laurie Proctor of Norway; her brother, William “Billy” Cordwell of Oxford; grandchildren, Mia Proctor and her boyfriend, Tanner Berry, of South Portland, Benjamin Proctor of South Paris, Kasey Hiltz and her husband, Josh, of Farmington, Dylan Mills of Norway, and David Mills of South Paris; and two great-grandchildren, Emerand Hiltz and Cash Berry.

Besides her parents, Thelma is predeceased by her husband, Don, who died on April 7, 2011.
