AUBURN — Roland L. Sheink, 85, of 238 Litchfield Road, Wales, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by his family and following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lewiston on June 22, 1931, he was the son of Ferdinand and Rose Lacasse Sheink. Educated in local schools, he followed his father into the family business of building houses, and worked for many years as a general contractor. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joy came from time spent with his family.

Survivors include three daughters, Bernice “Snookie” Kirsch and husband, Jon, of Lisbon Falls, Sherry Bellmore of Lewiston, and Tina Cilley and husband, Doug, of Turner; three grandchildren, Melissa Bourdon and husband, Tom, Debra Calhoun and husband, John, and Jesse Anderson and girlfriend, Stephanie Wight; four step-grandchildren, Chris, Danean, Jordan and Nathan; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Calhoun and Andrew Wilson; several nephews; companion, Theresa Harris; and longtime friend and hunting and fishing partner, David Klimash.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Godin; a brother, Armand Sheink; and his longtime girlfriend, Muriel Nadeau.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Central Maine Medical Center, d’Youville Pavilion, and the Hospice House for all the loving care and attention they gave Roland during his illness.
