WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Robert R. Lajoie of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Lewiston passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Brookdale Memory Care in Winter Haven, Fla., at the age of 85.
Born in Lewiston on Feb. 7, 1932, the son of the late Auguste and Maria (Cormier) Lajoie.
Robert attended school in Lewiston, then graduated from St. Dominic School in 1949. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1952, he married Jeannette Bonneau and they raised four children together. Jeannette passed away July 20, 1997.
Robert worked in the banking industry until 1979, namely with Northeast Bank. After he retired from Northeast Bank, Robert settled in Winter Haven, Fla. There, he continued his banking career until retiring. In 1999, he married Florence Pelletier.
Robert enjoyed watching hockey, playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Flo, of 18 years; four children, Dick and Jill Lajoie of Somersworth, N.H., Sue and Bob Cote of Lewiston, Dan Lajoie of Winter Haven, Fla., Steve and Tammy Lajoie of Barto, Fla.; his brother, Bert and wife Joan Lajoie, of Wayne, N.J.; and sister-in-law, Jocelyn Lajoie of Orlando, Fla. He also left seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his first wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Lajoie, Lorraine Labonte, Normande Moreau; brother, Rene Lajoie; brothers-in-law, Sam Labonte and Romeo “Buddy” Moreau.
