NORWAY — Norway Brewing Co., Western Foothills Land Trust and the Green Machine Bike Shop are teaming up to sponsor the Norway Winter Carnival on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26.
According to its Facebook page, the Norway Winter Carnival is a “a local celebration of snow, the outdoors, food, beer, and everything Maine winter.”
The carnival, which has a $20 registration fee, begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, with a Nordic ski race at Roberts Farm Preserve on Roberts Road. The race begins at 10 a.m. and will feature a 5k classic and 2.5k skate sprint. Hot cocoa and snacks will be provided by the Norway Brewing Co.
The Norway Brewing Co. said all adult participants will receive a token for one beer at the brewery.
At 3 p.m., the brewery will hold an ice-carving demonstration and will open a Snow Beer Garden at 5 p.m., along with games, a fire pit and ice luge.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, the Western Foothills Land Trust will host a fat bike rally at the Shepard’s Farm Preserve on Crockett Ridge Road.
Fat bikes are equipped with wide tires to allow people to ride across soft terrain, including snow.
