WESTBROOK — One of the teens charged in an alleged sex assault in Westbrook last month is from Lisbon Falls, according to a report from the Portland Press Herald.
The newspaper identified 15-year-old Rick Powers as one of three teens charged with gross sexual assault in the Feb. 5 incident at the Super 8 Motel.
Also charged were Ernest Lorange, 16, of Portland, and Garang Majok, 19, of Lewiston.
According to the Press Herald, Powers and Lorange were named Wednesday in a juvenile petition in Portland Unified Criminal Court.
Westbrook police said in a news release last month that they were called to the motel on Larrabee Road the morning of Feb. 5 for a reported disturbance in the parking lot.
“The initial investigation by the responding patrol officers led to information that a sexual assault had occurred,” according to the release. “Detectives were called in to assist and further the investigation. The investigation found that a 16-year-old female was sexually assaulted by three males in a room at the Super 8 Motel.”
Early reports were that the girl knew her attackers, although police have not elaborated on the nature of that relationship.
The 16-year-old girl was said to be in the care of her family.
The younger teens were taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland; Majok was being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
