RIVERVIEW, Fla. — George L. Jacobs, 85, of Greene and Riverview, Fla., passed away Thursday at his home in Florida.

George was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Livermore Falls to Ruth Lillian Wright and Mural Davis Jacobs. George married the love of his life, Patricia Myrtie Hutchinson, on June 30, 1956. George served in the infantry in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. George earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Maine in Orono in 1960 and spent nearly 40 years as both a physics teacher and science department head at Lewiston High School. George was a dedicated 33rd-degree Mason for 49 years, a member of the Scottish Rite and Kora Temple Shrine.

George will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Patricia; son, George Jacobs and companion, Robin Bachant; daughter, Sonia Bussiere and husband, Maurice; and son, Gerald Jacobs and wife, Tammy; his brother, Llewellyn Francis and wife, Helen; and his sister, Joyce Andrews. George had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George is predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Mural; and his stepfather, Harry Francis.
