
Rumford police and firefighters and Maine State Police work at the scene of a logging truck rollover at Route 108 and Veterans Bridge in Rumford on Thursday morning. Driver Hibbert Drew, 71, of Baldwin was injured and taken to Rumford Hospital, police said.

A load of logs lies at the intersection of Route 108 and Veterans Bridge in Rumford on Thursday morning. The White Rock Excavation & Logging truck from Gorham, driven by Hibbert Drew, 71, of Baldwin, tipped over while making the turn onto the bridge, police said.
RUMFORD — A tractor-trailer loaded with logs spilled its load while turning from Route 108 onto Veterans Bridge on Thursday morning, Fire Chief Bob Chase said.
Hibbert Drew, 71, Baldwin, was driving the rig for White Rock Excavation & Logging of Gorham. He was taken to Rumford Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
“The witnesses said it looked like he just took a corner too sharp and it threw the weight of the load and caused the trailer to tip over,” Patrolman Ashley Rich said.
Some hydraulic oil spilled.
