Young and Uplifting
Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 nominations close Friday and voting to winnow the nominated pack down to 40 people starts Monday.
“We will have all nominees listed on our website with their photos and blurbs about why they were nominated so that the public can get to know each nominee before voting,” Uplift LA Chairwoman Jodi Redmun said.
The 10 categories of honorees include building LA, local heroes and volunteers. (And FYI: Last year’s winners can be nominated and win again, but only in a different category.)
Voting will be open for two weeks at upliftlamaine.com and all will culminate in a 40 Under 40 awards ceremony June 9 at the Agora Grand Event Center on Bates Street in Lewiston.

Brock Services in Portland, part of the Brock Group headquartered in Texas, with locations across the country, is getting a little bigger.
The multi-service construction and maintenance company recently inked a lease for 5,472 square feet of office and warehouse space at 416 Lewiston Junction Road in Auburn.
Kevin Fletcher at Malone Commercial Brokers, who helped broker the deal, said Brock is putting its insulation division into the space.
Growing there
Antigoni’s Pizza in Lewiston is opening a new shop in Augusta.
Owner Antigoni Papagjika said Thursday that she’s waiting for slightly warmer weather before getting to work at 23 Bangor St. in Augusta to turn the former Pizza Hut into an Antigoni’s. She’s shooting for a June 1 opening.
She said they have a loyal customer base in Augusta, so loyal that “a couple of them went (as far as) to come and tell me every time something is for sale in Augusta. Augusta is close enough for us to be able to manage them both.”
Antigoni’s Pizza started in Turner and sold that location. The Lewiston shop at 757 Main St. opened four years ago and is doing well and growing, she said.
