HUDSON, Fla. — Paul A. Rybeck, 70, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Saturday, March 18, while vacationing at the family’s winter home in Florida.
He was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Lewiston, the oldest of seven children to Carl and Lucille (Brushwein) Rybeck. He attended Auburn schools and shortly after graduation, married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Hayden. Other than spending two months in Florida each year, the couple has resided in Auburn, recently celebrating 52 years of marriage.
Paul worked for many years at Hamilton and Sons as a metal fabricator. He was semi-retired, but continued to keep busy being a truck driver, lastly for Auburn Concrete. He was a member of the American Legion 150 in Mechanic Falls.
His greatest passion was surrounding himself with family, be it watching them participate in sports, celebrating holidays, taking vacations or just gathering around the kitchen table. He cherished the nickname “Papa” and was very proud of the accomplishments that each and every child and grandchild attained. He was happiest at camp on First Davis Pond in Guilford, where siblings, children and grandchildren would visit for enjoyable weekends of hunting, fishing, four-wheeling or encircling a bonfire.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves behind three children, Lynn Jurczak, and husband, Bill, Tammy Knowlton, and partner, Mark Lawrence, and Katie Ray and husband, Kirk; six brothers and sisters, Carla Rybeck and partner, Curtis Cruesoe, Karl Rybeck and wife, Colleen, Peter Rybeck and wife, Jackie, Tony Rybeck and wife, Kathy, Lisa Caron, and Chuck Rybeck and wife, Denise. He adored and will be missed by eight grandchildren, Jenny (Jurczak) Clinton and husband, Tyler, Kristy Jurczak, Steve Knowlton and wife, Paige, Brandin Knowlton, Haley Knowlton, Hunter Knowlton, Tate Ray and Eli Ray; and one great-grandchild, Mason Knowlton. He also leaves behind brother-in-law David Hayden and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law Sue Hayden; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; a niece, Laura Caron; and brother-in-law Doug Hayden.
