Hope Association crafting benefit

RUMFORD — The Hope Association will hold a scrapbooking and crafting benefit Saturday and Sunday, April 8 and 9, at 85 Lincoln Ave.

Saturday crafting will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a 50/50, a swap table and silent auctions.

Registration deadline is March 31. Cost is $30 per table for the two days.

Proceeds and donations go directly to services provided to individuals receiving supports from Hope Association. Funds support non-Medicade reimbursed activities.

Breakfast, lunch and supper will be included. Electricity and internet access will be available. Crafters may bring comfortable chairs, snacks and headphones, which are required to listen to music.

Rumford Center summer yard sale

RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society and the Rumford Center Village Improvement Society are seeking donations for a joint summer yard sale, to be held Saturday, June 3, at the Rumford Center Town Hall. The times will be announced at a later date.

Both organizations are in need of donations. Those able to make donations should contact VIS or RHS to make arrangements for donations. Due to the large amount of snow on the ground, pick up of large furniture items must be delayed until warmer weather. 

Proceeds will benefit the Village Improvement Society’s efforts to re-side the front of the Rumford Center Town Hall and RHS’s efforts to support activities at the Archives in the Rumford Town Hall and the Lufkin School Museum at Rumford Center.

‘Essentials of College Planning’

WILTON — The Wilton CareerCenter will offer the Maine Educational Opportunity Center’s “Essentials of College Planning” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20. 

The workshop will introduce people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. The Financial Aid portion of this workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

‘Birds, Bees, Butterflies and Beetles’

PARIS — Gardeners Growing Healthy Communities will host a dinner and talk by Reeser Manley, author of “Life in the Garden, Gardening for Biodiversity.”

The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St.

The talk is  “Birds, Bees, Butterflies and Beetles, Oh My!” It will discuss the world of pollinators and what can be done to protect these important insects.

Cost to attend is $10. Pre-registration is required.

SeniorsPlus satellite office hours 

FARMINGTON — SeniorsPlus will hold office hours for its satellite office location at 218 Fairbanks Road in Farmington.

Office hours for scheduled appointments will be from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Visitors will need to call 1-800-427-1241 to schedule an appointment.

Walk-in hours will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns community members may have about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families. These services are free and open to the public.
