RUMFORD — Elizabeth J. Mills, 88, of Bethel passed away Tuesday, March 21, in Rumford.

Elizabeth was born in Bethel on June 9, 1928, a daughter of Homer C. and Lillian (Bean) Smith Sr. She attended Bethel schools and graduated from Gould Academy in 1946.

A homemaker most of her life, she had also worked at The Sudbury Inn, The Bethel Inn and the Riverview Motel.

She attended the Bethel Alliance Church and previously attended the Bethel Church of the Nazarene and the Congregational Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, snowshoeing and baking. She was also a member of the Bethel Players.

Elizabeth leaves behind three sons, Randy Mills and his wife, Joyce, of Bethel, Ronald Mills of Mexico, and Scott Mills of Rumford with whom she lived with for the past seven years; two daughters, Bonnie Marshall and her husband, John, of Bethel, and Roxanne Corriveau and her husband, John, of Gilead; a brother, Homer Smith Jr. of West Paris; 26 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. 

She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert Mills, who died Nov. 11, 2005; two sons, Charles and David Mills; a daughter, Carlene Stone; two brothers, Charles Smith and Gardner Smith; a sister, Virginia Hutchins; a grandson, Joel Mills; and a great-granddaughter, Sammi Jo Wright.
