The Lisbon Community Garden Ad Hoc Committee was presented with donations of garden supplies by the Dirigo Service Unit, a combination of Girl Scout troops in Lisbon, Durham, Lewiston, Monmouth, Sabattus and Wales. The Girl Scouts recently participated in World Thinking Day, where they were asked to think globally. In response to this year’s theme, “Grow,” each troop within the unit gathered and donated various garden supplies, from seeds to watering cans. The Girl Scouts have provided much-needed implements which will in turn reach many more through community food donations. Pictured are, from left, Judy Arledge, LCG chair and coordinator; Veronica Broadbent and Amy Broadbent, members, Dirigo Service Unit Event Committee.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
