Auburn firefighters Kevin Rickett and Matt Fifield monitor a hay fire that closed down Route 136 near the Jordan School Road in Auburn on Friday afternoon. A trailer full of hay that was being pulled by a pickup truck caught fire. Central Maine Power was called as a precaution after flames reached 15-20 feet high. Power did not have to be cut as firefighters quickly got a handle on the flames. A farm tractor was called in to pull the hay apart so that the smoldering fire could be extinguished.
