LISBON – Police credit hard work and tips from the public for helping to collar a suspect accused of stealing three kayaks, a canoe and a snowblower.

Of course, footage from a surveillance camera didn’t hurt.

Police say they arrested 21-year-old Zachary Bartshe of Lisbon on Tuesday night and charged him with theft and refusing to submit to arrest.

Investigators say they have recovered the snow blower and boats which were reported missing over the past week in the Pleasant Street area.

Bartshe was arrested late Tuesday after investigators, acting on tips and surveillance photos, obtained a warrant to search a Lisbon Street home.

One surveillance photo captured the image of a hooded figure walking off with a canoe.

According to court records, Bartshe has a history of theft in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

Police said their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact them at 353-2500.

A canoe is hauled away in this surveillance camera image provided by the Lisbon Police Department.
