“?The only way to have universal care, if you stop to think about it, is to force people to buy it under penalty of law,” said White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney in an interview before GOP health care legislation was pulled.?
Do we not agree that universal health care is desirable? Are we not willing to pool our funds via the tax system to help all of us, from every economic level with guaranteed access to health care? If we are indeed the government, can we not trust ourselves to craft the ultimately accessible and effective health care system?
A healthy nation, one which presumes to international leadership, begins with responsible attention to the basic needs of people at home with generosity prioritized over the personal accumulation of wealth.
Let us begin a new cycle of real prosperity and leadership with universal health care for all via a single-payer system.
