LIVERMORE FALLS — Bruce Peary, jewelry designer and owner of Pearls In The Pines, has created a spring collection named for and inspired by community activist Martina Eastman.

The collection, named “Martina,” will launch Monday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a free luncheon buffet.

The collection honors Eastman’s enthusiastic support and encouragement of local small businesses and her active participation in many local charities that benefit the community.

“Her championing of the small businesses here in town and her participation in causes that touch many people’s lives are an inspiration to all of us,” Peary said. “Her particular affinity for varying shades of blue and green and the fusion of where the two colors meet are an inspiration to me as a jewelry designer. I am grateful she was agreeable to my idea and plans for the collection.”

Eastman is “a modest lady who works under the radar,” Peary said. “We may be a small town, but she does big things for it and I wanted to do something to acknowledge that.”

The collection is composed of a broad palette of blues and greens found in nature. Lapis lazuli, jade, turquoise, sodalite and aventurine are accented with freshwater pearl, dichroic art glass, Swarovski crystal, silver and gold.

The 35-piece collection includes a good representation of Southwestern, chunky and classic pieces. Some sets include earrings and a necklace. Others have a matching bracelet.

Peary said he is holding the launch the Monday after Easter to make the event “all about Martina.” The store is closed Mondays.

“By then, we should have a diminished chance of a nor’easter,” he said.

Finger rolls, pasta salad and brownies will be served at the picnic-style luncheon.

Pearls In The Pines is at 32 Main St., Livermore Falls. For more information, call 897-4435.
