FARMINGTON — Penny and Abby-the-Cat are Pets of the Week at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.
Penny, the Dog of the Week, is a 7-year-old DNA-tested Jack Russell terrier. She is a bundle of energy and love. Penny is a highly intelligent escape artist, so she requires a secure, fenced-in yard and knowledgeable owners.
Those interested in meeting and adopting Penny should make an appointment with the Franklin County Animal Shelter; Penny is housed with an Adoption Ambassador foster home.
The Cat of the Week is Abby-the-Cat, an affectionate, female senior. Abby is diabetic and needs a family who will be comfortable giving insulin shots on a daily basis. She is comfortable among other social cats, but she can be timid around dogs.
Abby-the-Cat and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
