MONMOUTH — Theater at Monmouth is offering students in third through eighth grade the opportunity to dive into the world of William Shakespeare this summer.

From July 31 to Aug. 18, students will learn to transform into Shakespeare’s characters through voice and movement, unravel Shakespeare’s plays as text detectives, and perform for friends and family onstage.

Students can choose from three, one-week sessions Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students in grades 3 to 5 will be introduced to Shakespeare’s stories through theatre games, art projects and creative play. The sessions are: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” from July 31 to Aug. 4; “Romeo and Juliet from Aug. 7-11; and “Twelfth Night” from Aug. 14-18.

Students in grades 6 to 8 will collaborate to perform a Shakespeare play. Participants will investigate how Shakespeare directs actor choices through the text, learn to create unique characters and explore the art of unarmed stage combat. The sessions are: “As You Like It” from July 31 to Aug. 4; “The Tempest” from Aug. 7-11; and “The Comedy of Errors” from Aug. 14-18.

Tuition for each session is $225 with a $25 discount for all registrations received by Saturday, April 15. There are discounts for registering for multiple sessions or siblings. Scholarships are available.
