FARMINGTON — The United Way of the Tri-Valley Area will offer a workshop on security risks for nonprofits Thursday, April 27.
Titled, “Staying Safe: Emerging Threats,” it will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bass Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Lunch will be provided.
Presenters Andy Grover, senior vice president and chief risk officer, and Russell Patton, chief information security officer, both of Bangor Savings Bank, will provide a vital overview of the types of risks and emerging threats to nonprofit organizations and how to protect organizations and donors.
Topics will include occupation fraud and internal controls, which includes common types of fraud, implementation of adequate controls with limited resources and board responsibilities and oversights, and cybersecurity, including vendor and volunteer relationships, online payments and payment card processing, network and wireless infrastructure, and phishing and other social engineering threats.
The event is free and open to all nonprofits. Attendance is limited. Participants must register.
