Starting in May, the market is on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in the district courthouse parking lot, 129 Main St. in Farmington.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Cool vehicles wanted! Touch-a-Truck is a communitywide event where kids and the young-at-heart have the opportunity to see, touch, interact with and learn about dozens of cool vehicles. From firetrucks to tractor trailers, police cars, ambulance, police K-9 car, construction equipment. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are welcome. Touch-a-Truck will be held Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Maine Community College. If you own a unique vehicle, or know someone who does, we invite you to showcase the vehicle and provide a learning opportunity for children at the same time. There is no cost to participate. DEAR SUN SPOTS: Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services is looking for volunteer advocates to respond to its 24-hour helpline and make a difference in the lives of people affected by sexual violence.

Volunteer advocates receive extensive training and support to prepare them to effectively respond to callers. Notified of calls through their cellphones, advocates are allowed to be on call from their homes or another location with private space to talk. Volunteer advocates must be over the age of 18, empathetic and dependable, with access to reliable transportation. All potential volunteers must complete the training and a screening process which includes criminal and DHHS background checks. No prior experience is necessary.
