LEWISTON — Norbert N. “Norbie” Rose, 87, died Friday, April 14, at Woodlands Memory Care in Lewiston. He was a resident of Howard Street in Mexico.
Born in Rumford on May 31, 1929, he was a son of Gerald and Nevilla (Blaisdell) Rose. Norbie graduated from Brunswick High School with the Class of 1947 and he attended the University of Maine at Orono following his tour of duty with the Army from 1947 to 1950, when he served as a corporal with occupational forces in Yokohama, Japan.
He worked as a lineman for Central Maine Power and after more than 39 years he retired in 1991 as a field planner.
He was married in Rumford on March 19, 1954, to Flossie Lohnes, who died in Rumford on Dec. 15, 2013.
Norbie was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church; he enjoyed reading, fishing, puttering about his house and camp and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, James Rose, and his wife, Eileen, of Bethel; two daughters, Cynthia Christie and husband, David, of Rumford and Kathryn Macgowan and husband, Kenneth, of Falmouth; grandchildren: Johnathan Bohren and wife, Allison, Andrew Bohren and wife, Neely, Victoria Bohren, Anna Christie, Noah Rose, and Garrett, Cory and Trent Macgowan; three great-grandchildren, Madyson and Max White, and Aria Macgowan; a brother, Charles Rose, of Harpswell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife; a brother, Francis “Hap” Rose; and a sister, Joan Timm.
