Abby Whitmore of Auburn presents the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston with the donations from her ninth birthday on April 10. Whitmore, a student at the Fairview Elementary School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats, toys, paper towels and other pet supplies to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the Humane Society helps each year.
