NORWAY — The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Town Office with an Auburn man looking to lease a former meat-processing building to grow and dispense medical marijuana.

Matt New of Auburn first came to the board April 13 to advise it of his plan to lease the basement, first floor and second floor of the building at 12 King St. to people who are licensed medical marijuana caregivers. They are generally defined as individuals or distributors who can possess, cultivate and provide medical cannabis to qualified medical marijuana patients.

Chairman Dennis Gray gave New and his partners a list of items they needed to present before the application could be approved.

The board will also hear from an Oxford business owner who wants to move his private health club to Norway. Jesse Wall, who has owned and operated TruStrength Athletics on Route 26 since 2008, said he is looking to buy a lot on Aldrich Avenue.

“I’m really passionate about what Norway has embraced in terms of culture, small business, and building people, versus Oxford turning into a little Auburn,” Wall said. “I love that feel.”

Wall is seeking to construct a 40- by 140-foot steel warehouse-style building and a smaller pre-engineered steel building.
