‘Stampin’ Up’ at Paris Public Library

PARIS — A “Stampin’ Up” class benefit for the Paris Public Library, with demonstrator Kathryn Pulsifer, will be held at 6 p.m. ThursdayMay 5, at the First Congregational Church in South Paris.

The class fee is $25 and includes beverages, snacks and craft materials. Ten percent of all orders will be donated to the library.

Those who bring a friend who has never stamped before will receive a gift. Registration is required by May 1.

Harrison Historical Society meeting

HARRISON — The first meeting of the Harrison Historical Society for 2017 will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, on Haskell Hill Road.

Forester Sherman Small will present a plan for the society’s forest land that may provide some financial stability for the future.

Genealogical society to meet

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Farmington Public Library.

Kay Marsh, a genealogist for 40 years, will present “Genealogy and Photography: Resurrecting Rachel.” She’ll share steps she followed to solve a genealogical problem, identifying a person in an unlabeled photo and correcting related existing genealogical records. Marsh will also include a brief overview of ways old photographs can enhance the basic facts one collects while compiling genealogy.

Meetings are open to those interested in history and genealogy. The group meets on the first Saturday of each month, unless otherwise noted.
