PARIS — Bail was set at $10,000 cash Friday afternoon for an Otisfield man charged after a police chase in Oxford, crashing his truck and fleeing.

Cody Niemi, 23, was arrested at his home on Bean Road Wednesday and charged with driving to endanger, attempting to elude an officer, operating after suspension, and a probation violation, according to police.

Police said an Oxford officer attempted to pull Niemi over on Gore Road near the Otisfield town line after discovering his license was suspended. Niemi led police on a short chase before crashing his Toyota Tundra truck into woods off Gore Road and fleeing, Oxford police Lt. Michael Ward said.

Niemi suffered minor injuries to his face.

Defense attorney Jeffrey Wilson said in court Friday that the $10,000 cash bail was acceptable as long as it could be reviewed before a new judge at a later date.

Niemi is scheduled to appear July 27 in Oxford County Superior Court. He is being held at the Oxford County Jail.
