INDIANAPOLIS — Bates men’s lacrosse received one of the top four seed and will make its second NCAA Division III tournament appearance in three years when it hosts Plattsburgh State on Wednesday at Garcelon Field.
Bates (14-1), the top-ranked team in last week’s USILA Division III poll, earned one of seven available “Pool C” at-large selections. Fellow NESCAC teams Amherst and Tufts also earned at-large selections, while Wesleyan earned an automatic bid by winning the conference championship game against Middlebury at Bates on Sunday.
The winner of the Bates/Plattsburgh State second-round game will play the winner of the Amherst/Springfield second-round game next Saturday.
The 34-team touranment will be played entirely at on-campus sites until the championship game, which is May 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
The Bobcats lost their first game of the season in last Saturday’s NESCAC semifinal against Middlebury, 14-13. Plattsburgh State (12-5), which is making its first NCAA tournament appearance, won the SUNYAC championship on Saturday, 10-6, over Cortland State.
