Livermore ATV trails closed 

LIVERMORE — Brettuns Wheelers ATV Club Trail Master Paul Litalien and Rene Grondin, club president, have announced that the trails in Livermore are closed until May 25 or later due to excess rain.

“The trails are still very muddy, and all of our trails are on private property. So we like to stop the damage done by riding too early out of respect for the landowners,” said Litalien.

One Paris Hill open house

PARIS — The One Paris Hill Committee will host an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the site, 1 Paris Hill Road.

The public is invited to paddle the Little Androscoggin, explore the property, tour the building, and share ideas for the future of the outdoor recreational facility.

Those wishing to canoe or kayak may bring their own or borrow one.

Healthy snacks and water will be provided.

Jackson-Silver Post hosting benefit 

LOCKE MILLS — A benefit fundraiser for Lesslie (Keen) Thomas will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Jackson-Silver Post 68, American Legion, 595 Gore Road. 

The benefit will include a silent auction, dinner, a 50/50, and performances by local bands. 

Donations will be accepted for Thomas.

Dance-a-thon for American Cancer Society

RUMFORD — The Beacon House Dance-a-thon to benefit the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer research will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at 49 Franklin.

The dance-a-thon is until 4 p.m., and then there will be a live auction. 

Dancers who want to enter are encouraged to get a sponsor sheet and collect flat or by-the-minute donations.

It costs $5 dollars to watch the dance-a-thon or attend the auction. Dancers get in free.

To donate a service or item for the auction, contact for pick up or drop off must be made by May 19.

Greenwood Fiddle Jam 

GREENWOOD — Greenwood Fiddle Jam will send music through the town from 1 to 4 p.m. every first and third Sunday of the month at the Greenwood Town Office, 593 Gore Road.

There is a slow jam through 2 p.m.

Finnish-American Heritage Society meeting

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the Finnish-American building, 8 Maple St.

Following a short business meeting, the afternoon will feature a program presented by the Oxford Hills Ukulele Group and a bountiful coffee table.

The meeting is open to the public.

Daughters of Union Veterans meeting

PARIS — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, Hannah F. Richardson Tent No. 19 Stoneham, will meet Thursday, May 25, at the First Baptist Church of Paris.

There will be a memorial service for deceased members.

At the monthly meeting on April 27, the new treasurer, Margaret Babineau, was installed. Plans were made for the memorial service at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21, at the Stoneham Church, followed by a service at Hillside Cemetery at the grave of a Civil War veteran.
