FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy announces that Music Director Mike Sakash was presented with the Maine Music Educator of the Year Award by the Maine Music Education Association on Thursday, May 11.
The award was presented by Sue Barre, the president of MMEA, during the academy’s annual spring concert.
The Maine Music Educator of the Year Award recognizes MMEA members for their “exceptional support and outstanding accomplishments to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine.”
This year, Sakash led the academy Jazz Ensembles to earn gold, silver and bronze at the Maine State Jazz Festival, competing against more than 38 high schools.
Fryeburg Academy is a private boarding and day school serving grades 9-12 and offering a postgraduate year.
