BRUNSWICK — Brenda Coffin McLean, 71, died Wednesday, May 17, at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick.
She was born May 22, 1945, in Portland, a daughter of Dr. J. Kenneth and Christine Dow Coffin. She graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1963, received an MS from the University of Maine Orono ’67, and an MA Education from the University of New England ’00.
She was a teacher in Hamilton, Mass., and once returning to Maine worked within the Lisbon School Department. After retirement, she continued as a substitute teacher until totaling over 45 years in education. Her family was the most important thing to her and she encouraged them in everything and attended all of their events. Also, Brenda had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with.
She is predeceased by her brother, David Coffin; a sister, Peggy Dionne.
She is survived by a son, Scott McLean, and his wife, Shauna, of Topsham; a daughter, Kristin Steinman, and her husband, Phil Mather, of Topsham; grandchildren, Kelsey McLean, Jake Steinman, Marcus Steinman, Liam McLean; and a step-grandson, Austin Mather.
