NORWAY — Fletcher C. Dunn, 89, of Poland passed away Wednesday, May 17, at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Lewiston on April 12, 1928, the son of Philip and Grace Jordan Dunn. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1946 and married Norma Conant on January 1, 1949. They celebrated 68 years of marriage.
He was vice president of P.E. Dunn Inc. of Poland, a family construction business which was his life’s work. Along with the family business, they contracted with the town of Poland to provide transportation for the Poland Community School. He enjoyed driving the bus and all of the children. He was a longtime member of Tyrian Lodge No. 73 AF & AM and the Kora Shrine for 68 years. He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, playing cards, dancing and traveling. He and his wife wintered in Florida for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Poland; two daughters, Brenda (Dane) Tripp and Connie Dunn, all of Poland; two sons, Phil (Mona) Dunn of Mechanic Falls and Bruce (Robin) Dunn of Zephyrhills, Fla.; grandchildren, Shawn (Yong) Tripp, Alicia Dunn, James (Kim) Dunn, Kimberly (Todd) Wyatt and Heather (Eddie) Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Allison Morris, Matthew Dunn, Derek Haney, Briana, Megan, Eddie and Anthony Sanchez, David and Rebecca Bates; a great-great-grandchild, Isaiah Sanchez; his siblings, Amos (Marilyn) Dunn, Peter (Donna) Dunn, Kathleen McAllister, Barbara Roy and Cola Thompson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, David; a granddaughter, Sheena Tripp; a brother, Richard Dunn; and two sisters, Roslyn Durgin and Phyllis Smith.
