FREEPORT — James “Jim” Lavallee, 69, of Freeport, passed away on Thursday, May 18.

Jim was born in Brunswick on March 6, 1948, and graduated from Brunswick High School. He married Annette Willette shortly thereafter and spent his life as her loyal friend.

Jim was a gentle man of faith with an incredibly tender heart and kind soul. He had a great sense of humor and beautiful smile, and had a special connection with children and animals. Jim was a general contractor and excellent carpenter; he especially loved working on projects for his family.

Jim’s true love in life was Neiley and Ben, his two children. Ben, who has special needs from a childhood accident, became the focus of his life. The two had an incredible love for one another and were best friends. The bond and friendship they shared was a major source of joy for Ben. Jim gave everything he had to Ben.

Jim is survived by his loving and adoring mother, Cleo Lavallee of Gray, who was always there for him in every way. He also leaves behind his partner, Annette Lavallee of Auburn; Jim’s two children, Neiley Harris of Portland, and Ben Lavallee of Auburn; his two grandchildren, Jaime Campbell-Lavallee and Chandler Harris (Neiley’s daughter and son); Jim’s brother, Paul Lavallee of Gray; and sister, Pauline Smith of Brunswick; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Rocky.

Jim was predeceased by his father, Leo Paul Lavallee.
