RUMFORD — Coach Steve LaPointe notched his 350th career victory as Mountain Valley dispatched Oak Hill, 10-0 and 13-0, in doubleheader baseball action Saturday afternoon.

The big blow of Game 1 came in the second inning for the Falcons (12-3) when Cam Godbois slapped a three-run triple. Godbois had four RBIs in the game.

Hunter Ames threw a complete game one-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Falcons (10-4) in Game 1. Cody Webster had a leadoff single for Oak Hill’s only hit.

Mountain Valley jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning of Game 2. John Pepin contributed two hits in each game, while John Adley had a two-run homer in the third inning of the nightcap.

Dirigo 6, Boothbay 4

DIXFIELD — Dirigo did its damage in the fifth and sixth innings in a 6-4 victory over Boothbay in an MVC contest.

The Cougars scored four runs in the fifth to tie the game. Mason Corriveau drove in Tucker Olsen for the game-winning run in the sixth. They tacked on one more in the inning.

Luke Lueders had a double for the Cougars (8-7).

John Babcock had two hits including an RBI double in a three run third inning for the Seahawks (4-11).

Softball

Mountain Valley drops pair to Oak Hill

WALES — Senior catcher Emma Hlister sprayed five hits in a doubleheader as Oak Hill took two victories, 3-2 and 6-3, from Mountain Valley in softball action Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (5-9) led 2-1 after three innings in Game 1. But, Oak Hill came back for a pair of runs in the home half of the sixth inning and held on for the win.

The Raiders (12-3) rallied for three runs in the top of the fifth inning to improve their lead to 5-1. Pitcher Charlotte Waterman helped her own cause with a pair of hits for Oak Hill.

Grace Briggs repeat hit in both games for Mountain Valley, collecting three singles and a triple in the losing efforts.

Buckfield 13, Temple 1

WATERVILLE — Sophomore catcher Hannah Shields recorded three hits to lead Buckfield to a 13-1 victory over Temple in softball action Saturday afternoon.

The Bucks (13-2) wasted little time, posting eight runs in the first three innings for an 8-0 lead in the early going.

Pitcher Abby Shields tossed a three-hitter, while collecting a single and a double on offense for Buckfield.

Dirigo 16, Boothbay 0

DIXFIELD — Alexa Varnum compiled four RBIs as Dirigo rolled to a 16-0 victory over Boothbay in softball action Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (3-12) put five runs on the board in the first inning, and another seven runs in the third. Nicole Whitman and Katie Morse snagged two hits apiece to account for four of Dirigo’s nine.

The Seahawks (0-14) committed seven errors in the losing effort.
