MEXICO — Household hazardous waste collection for River Valley residents will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10, at the Northern Oxford Regional Solid Waste Facility, River Road, Route 2. This is a change in location from past years.

Some examples of household hazardous waste include cleaners, solvents, chemical lawn fertilizers, weed and insect killers, swimming pool chemicals, driveway sealers, rat poison, moth balls and rechargeable batteries. Items with the words poison, danger, corrosive, toxic, volatile, flammable, caution or warning on the label may be accepted.

Oil-based and latex paint may be disposed of, in their original container, at the Transfer/Recycling Center on River Road, at any time the center is open.

Wastes being brought to the collection event should be in the original, securely closed containers, if possible. If any container is leaking, it should be packed in a bucket. No chemicals should be mixed, and nobody should smoke or eat while handling or transporting hazardous materials.

Businesses are not eligible to participate in this event.
