CANAAN — A 26-year-old Minot man accused of running amok with knives and causing an estimated $3,000 damage at a campground in Somerset County was duct taped by campers while they waited for police, officials said.
Police arrested Brandon York on three counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and charges of assault and criminal mischief.
Investigators said a group of campers at the Skowhegan/Kennebec Valley KOA campground teamed up to subdue York after he appeared with two knives and began slashing tires and beating on camping equipment. Police said the other campers bound York with duct tape while waiting for Somerset County Sheriff’s deputies to arrive.
In his booking sheet, York is listed as 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 280 pounds.
He was being held Wednesday at the Somerset County Jail in Madison. The incident remained under investigation.
