AUBURN — Lee M. Fontenot, Jr., 61, a resident of Jay, passed away Wednesday, May 31 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 28, 1955 in Lake Charles, La., the son of Lee Mark Fontenot, Sr. and Orelia (Menard) Fontenot. He attended the Bell City School System. Lee served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974. On May 7, 1994, Lee married Jacqueline Payeur in Livermore Falls, and they made their home in Jay. He worked at International Paper Company in Jay, Maine and retired in 2006.

He grew up guiding and hunting. Lee had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling and camping. He also was an avid fan of baseball and amateur boxing.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Fontenot of Jay; 5 sisters, Clarice Raichel and Carey Young, both of Lake Charles, La., Marlene Cox and Charlotte Koons both of Bossier City, La., and Melissa Coffey of Galveston, TX; one brother, Mickey Fontenot of Lake Charles, La.; and his dog, “Cody.”

He was predeceased by his parents.
