MINOT — Larry Eric Hawley, 70, of Minot passed away on Thursday, June 1, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Montreal, Canada, on October 15, 1946, the son of Royce and Beatrice Beaudry Hawley, and baptized in Magog, Canada. A graduate of Edward Little High School in 1965, he entered military service in November that same year as a U.S. Marine Corps aircraft mechanic and air crew member. Larry served from 1965 to 1968 with a tour in Vietnam. Afterwards, Larry worked 25 years for the phone company and retired from Verizon as a central office technician in Portland. Larry re-entered the workforce shortly afterwards selling cars at Bessey Motor Sales in South Paris, permanently retiring 16 years later.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lucille Elaine Wing Hawley, whom he married on September 3, 1976; children, John and Michelle L. Hawley of Mechanic Falls, Larry (Bud) and Michelle R. Hawley of Essex Junction, Vt., and Christopher Hawley of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Alycia Hawley, Caitlin Hawley and Emmitt Hawley; his brother, Donald, Sr. and wife, Marilyn Hawley; his sister, Debra and husband, Ronald Morin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry loved dogs and was an advocate for animal rescue. He leaves behind three beloved dogs: two golden retrievers, Dazie and Bruno, and a miniature poodle named Patches.

Our sincere gratitude goes to the staff at Androscoggin Home & Hospice for their care and service and especially to Brittany and Michelle for their personal care of Larry.
