SOUTH PARIS — John G. Cameron, 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side Tuesday, June 6, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.

He was born in Houlton on July 12, 1935, the son of the late Henry and Mary (Kirlin) Cameron.

John was a devout Catholic who lived in Maine his entire life. He was educated in Houlton schools, and graduated from North Dakota State School of Science. John served four years in the U.S. Navy. On Aug. 2, 1959, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Gardner), and they shared a loving marriage of more than 57 years. He owned Selmore Fixtures Manufacturing and Simon J. Jolin Manufacturers Agent for many years. John enjoyed spending time with his family, often hosting various family events. His hobbies included woodworking, cross country skiing, tennis and spending time in Bridgton.

John is survived by his wife; his two children, Mark Cameron of Auburn and Kim Grubka of Michigan; his brother, the Rev. Hilary Cameron of Portland; his two step-grandchildren, Justin and Jared Grubka, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Matthew Cameron; his five brothers and his one sister.
