MOUNT VERNON — The 7th Annual Classical Meets Pop Concert and fireworks display will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the Mount Vernon Community Center.

Hosted by “From the Top” producer Jerry Slavet, the show will feature classical/pop musicians Charles Yang and Michael Thurber and others from ‘From the Top.”

Violinist Yang has performed as a soloist with prominent orchestras at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Metropolitan Opera House, and was featured in Nick Romeo’s book, “Driven” and on Discovery Channel’s Curiosity.  In 2016 Yang joined the crossover string-band, Time for Three.

Bassist Thurber, a Julliard graduate and New York City-based composer and performer, is a co-founder and music-director of CDZA. Most recently, he has been playing the bass with Jon Batiste and his group Stay Human on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Ticket sales and donations from this concert support lake conservation programs at 30-Mile River Watershed Association and the Parker Pond Association.

Concert reservations are strongly recommended because indoor seating is limited.

Guests may also bring blankets or chairs and sit outside on the lawn to listen for free. Tickets will be available in advance at $12 for adults and $6 for children under 18.
