GARDINER — Damien St. Pierre the batter helped out Damien St. Pierre the pitcher Monday night in Rogers Post’s 6-4 American Legion baseball victory over Gardiner.
St. Pierre had two hits, including a double, while also pitching a complete-game six-hitter.
Jake Arel also had a double as part of a two-hit game, and Austin Cox added a pair of hits as well for Rogers Post (2-0).
Kolton Brochu doubled for Gardiner (0-2). Jonah Martin started the game for the hosts, while Connor Nilsson finished up on the mound in the seventh.
The scoring went back and forth in the middle innings. Rogers Post took a 2-0 lead into the fourth, only for Gardiner to rally back for a 3-2 advantage. The visitors tied it briefly in the top of the fifth before the hosts went back up by one. A three-run sixth was the difference for Rogers Post.
