AUBURN — Ernest “Ernie” Leo St. Laurent of Auburn passed away peacefully at the Auburn Hospice House on Friday, June 16, with his family by his side.

Ernest was the son of Leo and Ameta St. Laurent of Windsor Mills, Quebec, Canada. He attended schools there until the family moved to Auburn when he was 15 years old. The remainder of his schooling was at Edward Little High School in Auburn.

Ernest married Sherrall Fay Munsey on June 29, 1963. They were married for 54 years.

He loved his family, playing cards and attending family gatherings. He enjoyed reading his newspaper thoroughly daily and was well-versed in politics and Maine news. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. He also enjoyed watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” on TV while sitting next to his devoted wife.

Ernie was a hardworking family man who proudly supported his family. He was employed for 11 years at Gould and Scammon and 22 years at Bates Mill.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Sherrall; daughters, Linda Parlin of Madison and Karen Lawson and her husband, Matthew, of San Jose, Calif.; stepdaughters, Deborah Munsey of Livermore and Wendy Barry of Auburn; a son, Gary St. Laurent, and his fiancee, Laurie Sidelinger, of Turner; a sister, Jane Orino, and her husband, Bill, of Chester Va.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by both parents; a brother, Emile St. Laurent; two sisters, Lizette Fee and Nicole “Nikki” Nuzzo; a son, Ernest Gard Joseph St. Laurent; a stepson, Scott L. Munsey; and granddaughter, Sonya L. Munsey.
