Open Observatory Night seeing Saturn

PARIS — Twitchell Observatory’s monthly Open Observatory Night will be from 9:30 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, or Saturday, July 1, on Hoooper Ledge Road if skies are clear.

Expected to be seen are constellations, Saturn, Jupiter and the moon. 

The event is free to attend. Weather postponements will be posted on the website.

Scholarship for Spruce Mountain area grads

LIVERMORE FALLS — Jay, Livermore Falls and Spruce Mountain High School graduates who are enrolled in a two- or four-year college or vocational program are invited to apply for one of two $1,000 scholarships offered by the late Marcia and Louis Brown.

College students must have successfully completed at least one semester of college or vocational school to be eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is July 28. Applications may be picked up at the Regional School Unit 73 Central Office at 9 Cedar St., during business hours Monday through Friday.

Music lessons at GRCC

RUMFORD — The Greater Rumford Community Center is offering music lessons on Sundays this summer.

The lessons are for those interested in learning how to play the drums, guitar or bass guitar.

‘Essentials of College Planning’

PARIS — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and older.

Two workshops will be held at at 10 a.m. and noon Monday, Aug. 7, at Western Maine University & Community College Center, 232 Main St.
