Drumming group making a beat

LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. The group will play next on July 9. 

All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation. 

New Auburn Seniors to meet 

AUBURN — The New Auburn Senior Citizens will have a business meeting at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, followed by a light lunch, which will cost $4. All functions are held at Sacred Heart Church.

The next dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, and the meal will be chicken pot pie from Kentucky Fried Chicken for $6. Dinner tickets must be purchased at the first Monday meeting prior to the dinner in order to help with planning.

All seniors 60 and older are welcome to attend Off-Monday Bingo at noon on Mondays, July 17 and 31. 

2017 membership dues must be paid on any Monday of the month. Those who cannot pay at the meeting may send payment and a self-addressed envelope to Helen Marsh, 32 Chris Ave., Sabattus, ME 04280.

Mime Antonio Rocha at LPL

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library’s Children’s Department will welcome Antonio Rocha at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, in Callahan Hall.

Rocha is a storyteller, mime and actor who came to the U.S. in 1988 to study with mime masters. He has traveled all over the world, from Singapore to Hawaii, and has created unique performances that combine his talent for storytelling and his training as a mime.

IHM Golden Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The IHM Golden Age Club will meet Tuesday, July 11, at Taber’s.

Club members will gather between 11 a.m. and noon at tables across the street. Lunch will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., which will cost $6.50 for a hot dog, hamburger or cheeseburger with fries, a small drink and ice cream. 

Reservations and money must be in by noon on Sunday, July 9.

Lisbon Historical Society to meet

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the society’s archives in the MTM Center, School Street.

The scheduled program has been postponed, and in its place the archivist and volunteers will be available to help with historical and family research questions. Refreshment will also be served. Parking and the entrance are at the rear of the building.

Bridge club lists winners 

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the North American Pairs game on June 26 were, first in Flight A, Richard Balian and Tom Goodwin; second and first in B, Norma and Rick Verrill; third and second in B, Jeanine Kivus and Roger Labbe; fourth and third in B, Mike Quinn and Mike True.

Winners of the NAP on June 27 were, first, Nancy Farmer and Roger Labbe; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.
