LEWISTON — An Auburn woman arrested on criminal charges, after drug agents seized crack and heroin from her hotel room, was sentenced Friday to four years in prison.

Jacinta Hunt, 27, pleaded guilty in 8th District Court to one count of aggravated unlawful trafficking of heroin and a count of unlawful trafficking of cocaine. She also pleaded guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Conviction of the heroin charge is punishable by up to 30 years in prison; the cocaine charge, 10 years.

On the first drug charge, she was sentenced to seven years with all but four years suspended, plus three years of probation. Her sentences on the two other charges — two years and one year, respectively — are to be served at the same time as the first sentence.

During probation, Hunt will be barred from having alcohol or illegal drugs and will be subject to random search and testing for both. She must undergo substance abuse counseling and treatment and pay $480 in restitution to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. She’ll owe a total of $800 in fines.

She must abide by a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. except for work or dance competitions or recitals involving her daughter, the judge ordered.

Prosecutors dismissed one felony drug trafficking charge and two felony drug possession charges.

Drug agents said Hunt was arrested after police and agents conducted surveillance in April on her room at a Lewiston motel where she apparently had been hiding. Her parents were concerned that drug dealers had been seeking her whereabouts to harm her because she had stolen drugs from them.

Agents recovered 17.7 grams of crack cocaine and 48 grams of heroin. Two shotguns were recovered from her car parked outside the motel room, hidden behind the building, according to an affidavit by a special agent with MDEA. She said the guns belonged to her boyfriend.

She later confessed to authorities that she stole roughly 200 grams of heroin and 200 grams of crack cocaine from dealers who were searching for her.

Police said she had been dealing the drugs from the motel room.

In the Twin Cities, Hunt has a long criminal history of drug possession, burglaries, thefts, forgery and escape.
