PORTLAND — The Boston Celtics have signed Maine Red Claws star Abdel Nader to an NBA contract, the Red Claws announced Saturday evening.

Nader was named the NBA G League Rookie of the Year in his lone season with the Red Claws in 2016-17. In 40 games, the Iowa State product averaged 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He helped Maine claim a third consecutive Atlantic Division title and reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in team history.

Due to Celtics’ team policy, terms of the deal were not announced. Boston drafted Nader in the second round (58th pick) of the 2016 draft.
