FARMINGTON — In a series of trading places, the Mt. Blue High School principal and Mt. Blue Middle School principal have been hired as principal and assistant principal, respectively, at Skowhegan Area High School in Skowhegan.

Regional School Unit 54 Superintendent Brent Colbry confirmed Monday that Bruce Mochamer of Farmington has been hired as high school principal and Jason Bellerose of Skowhegan has been hired as assistant principal at the school.

Bellerose will be one of the two assistant principals at the school.

Both men had worked at Skowhegan Area Middle School previously.

Bellerose submitted his resignation as principal of Mt. Blue Middle School last week. He became principal of the school in July 2016 after Principal Gary Oswald retired after 30 years.  His last day in Farmington has not been determined.

“I plan to do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition for MBMS, the faculty, and of course the students we serve. So far as an end date, we are looking at later in August at this time,” Bellerose said.

Prior to Bellerose being hired at RSU 9, he had been an educator for 16 years in RSU 54. He was a social studies teacher at Skowhegan Area Middle School, a position he had held for 14 years. He was also an alternative education teacher for two years at that school. 

Mochamer submitted his resignation as principal of Mt. Blue High School and coordinator of Mt. Blue Campus in June. His last day is July 28.  He became assistant principal at the Farmington school in July 2013, interim principal in July 2014, and principal in 2015. 

Prior to that Mochamer taught science for 12 years at Mt. Blue Middle School before he went on to teach science at Skowhegan Area Middle School. He spent 14 years at that school, including as assistant principal and principal.

Mochamer had replaced Monique Poulin of Kingfield in July 2014 as interim principal of Mt. Blue when she was named principal of Skowhegan Area High School.

Now Poulin will replace Mochamer.  She was hired as principal of Mt. Blue in late June. Her starting date at Mt. Blue is July 31.

Poulin had worked 15 years in RSU 9t prior to her leaving for Skowhegan.
