Neighborhood Watch Group to meet

AUBURN — The New Auburn Neighborhood Watch Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the sixth Street Congregational Church.

Children’s author visiting Cary Library 

WAYNE — Local children’s author Laura Bantley will do a reading and book-signing of “How Ladybug Bear Came to Maine” at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Cary Memorial Library, 17 Old Winthrop Road.

Ladybug Bear travels from a toy workshop in West Virginia to a gift shop in Michigan, and it seems no one wants her. At last she is discovered and finds a perfect home in Maine. The book is appropriate for children who struggle with feeling different.

Auburn Church collecting hygiene products 

AUBURN — The Auburn United Methodist Church is supporting the Center for Wisdom’s Women by helping supply hygiene products for the women that they serve.

Requested donations include shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, body wash, disposable razors, lotion, lip balm and feminine hygiene products.  

Donations can be dropped off at 439 Park Ave.

Bridge club lists winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on July 17 were, first, Nancy Lindgren and Tom Goodwin; second, Nancy Farmer and Luke Merry; third and fourth tie, Cynthia and Bill Clifford with Paul Clement and Roger Labbe; and, fifth, David Offer and Mike Quinn.

Winners on July 18 were, first, Patricia Quinn and Roger Labbe; second, Claire Lyons and David Offer; third, Richard Balian and Paul Clement; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed, and all bridge players are welcomed.
